Simon Bennett

Simon established Southern Waters Legal in Cronulla in 2009 and has since led its growth into a multi-location practice with offices in Cronulla, Menai and Sydney CBD.

As a Chartered Tax Adviser, Simon brings a strong understanding of the intersection between legal, taxation and commercial considerations. He has extensive experience in asset protection and structuring, complex estate planning, business succession and intergenerational wealth transfer, regularly advising clients with complex personal, business and investment interests.

His practice includes Wills, Powers of Attorney and Estate Planning, asset protection and structuring, business succession and Superannuation & Tax. Simon also has extensive experience in Estate Disputes & Contesting Wills and matters involving complex estate, trust, business and financial structures.

Simon takes a strategic and solutions-focused approach, considering each client’s broader personal, financial and commercial circumstances rather than looking at legal issues in isolation. He works closely with clients and their professional advisers, including accountants and financial advisers, to develop practical and tailored strategies that bring legal, taxation, commercial and succession considerations together.

Simon Bennett has received a range of industry awards and professional recognition throughout his career. His recent recognition includes being named Senior Partner of the Year (15 Years or More) at the 2025 Partner of the Year Awards and being recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a Recommended Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyer in New South Wales in 2025. In 2026, Doyle’s Guide recognised Simon as a Leading Wills, Estates & Succession Planning Lawyer and a Leading Wills & Estates Litigation Lawyer in New South Wales.

Simon holds a Master of Laws from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Commerce from the University of Wollongong, having completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wollongong.

Outside of Southern Waters Legal, Simon loves spending time with his family and is passionate about sports, especially rugby union.
